welcome in my travels

Hello and welcome on my Blog :)

After half a year of travelling I decided to start to write a blog in English as well, especially because I’ve been asked by a lot of my not German speaking friends why my blog isn't in English. Well I started writing a Blog in German to update my Family and my friends at home and there is the Problem that for example my Grandparents don't speak English.
Anyway, here's my Blog for all my Australian and not German-speaking friends :)
I Just start at the time where I left my workplace in Quairading, otherwise it would be to much, 6 month I quite a lot to catch up to :D
After an awesome time in Quairading I started a Road trip along the south coast, starting in Perth. I've been travelling with Linnea, an awesome Swedish girl who's been working in in Quairading as well, and Andy, somebody I found while searching for travel mates.
On the first day of our road trip we made a stop near the beach at a public Barbecue. When I first saw them in Quairading I was really surprised, we don't have sth like that in Germany, but I think it is a great idea which often helped us with our cooking on the road trip. Those BBQs are everywhere ! :D
At the second beach we've been to there was a swimmingplattform but also huge waves, but Andy and I were still stupid enough to get in and swim over. I was really happy when I was back at the beach, but it was a funny experience :)
After that we also made our way to Bunbury and later on to Busselton and Yallingup, where we've been in a cave. I love caves, and this one was a really nice one! Again we went to the beach and again there've been really huge waves. I wasn't going to go in, because the waves were really really huge, probably at least 2 times me, and you know how tall I am :D
Anyway, I've been standing at the beach and one of the really big ones hat it's end that I got wet al over. So I thought well I’m wet now so it doesn't matter if I go in or not so I went in. the first wave got me of my feet and it took me a while to get back up, especially because I’ve been laughing quite a lot. I had a lot of fun jumping the waves, but I missed on which tumbled me around like washing in a washing machine. After that I got out of the water really quickly, because that was really scary.
The next day was really unhealthy, we visited the chocolate factory and a few wineries and we had a few wine tastings. I've actually never been a huge wine drinker, but I found a few one which are really tasty :D
After a few more caves in Margaret River and a lighthouse we had an ice cold shower. You ask why? Well we've been camping and using public showers, which are mostly cold, but because it was a cloudy day this time the water didn't heated up a bit as it has done before so it was ice cold.
Near Pemberton we climbed up a bicentennial tree and went along the tree top walk in the valley in the giants.
After snorkelling at the Elephant rocks with many colourful fish and a few manta rays (hope that’s the right word :D) we went to the sandalwood factory and finally in Albany, where we stayed at the nicest hostel I’ve been in so far. It's called 1849 backpackers if that interests you ;)
After Pancakes for brekky we drove to the blowholes which have been blowing this time. It's actually pretty scary to hear the water rushing under the stones. Expecting a pink lake we continued our journey and ended up at a dried out salt lake. Walking on it felt like walking on meringue, well like you would expect walking on Meringue would be :D
After a (for me second) visit at the wave rock, we saw a stuck truck, a truck which was stuck on a small hill, with the front wheels in the air and had a nice walk through the stockes national park.
On the next day we made our way down to Esperance and had a look at the beaches in the town which are really nice, in the evening there was a wedding at twilight beach I got to make a picture with the bride and the bridegroom which I don't even know.
Because we've been sleeping half an hour out of Esperance, we drove to another National park we actually wanted to skip, but fortunately we didn't. In this Park, the Cape Grande National Park, are the most beautiful beaches I've seen in my life so far. Absolutely awesome ! The sand is white and it squeezes if you want on it! Linnea and I had a lot of fun just jumping in the sand making it squeeze :D At the Camping area there have been Kangaroos in the Kitchen, two adults and one joey :)
Everyone who has seen a map of Australia knows what comes next : A journey across the Nullarbor plain with the longest straight road in Australia (90 miles). I was really sad seeing all the dead Kangaroos on the street, but fortunately we didn't hit one. Even if this drive is really long and there are not many sights or sth around, we had an awesome trip. One one evening Linnea dropped a roll of toilet paper, and because it was windy the wind unrolled the whole roll, which looked petty funny. It has been waving in the wind saluting to whoever :D
After a day we crossed the border to Southern Australia and stopped at every single lookout, and every lookout was worth seeing it. Once we had a big oversized truck in front of us, but I was to afraid of overtaking because it made you drive on the gravel next to the road with a high speed and I didn't want to do that. So Andy and I swapped seat again that he had to overtake this truck.
The following morning we went to Murphy's haystacks, the Woolshed cave with the Icecream-rocks (I named them due to their colour- the bottom was brown, the middle red and the top yellow, that it looked like those mixed ice cream packages you can get at the supermarket) and also a beautiful beach where nobody else was. We enjoyed the rest of the day there.
On Friday we had lunch at a restaurant caused by Andy wanting oysters, but that was fine. It was a really good restaurant at coffins bay. We also saw sand dunes, Andy and I climbed up whereas Linnea stayed at the bottom. The look from up there was good, it was just a bit hard to climb up there. This evening we first parked the car next to a cliff, but it was way to windy to set up our tents and sleep there, so we went back to the foot of the sand dunes and build up our tents there. Due to the wind we've been covered with sand the next morning, it took me two (cold) showers to get all the freaking sand of my hair and we still found sand in our bags weeks later.
The next day we spent in the Lincoln National park. Another national park, the Mount remarkable nat. park was on program for the next day. Prepared for just a small walk we started walking a Track from which Andy was saying it's ours, the short one. After 2 h of walking, which felt like 5h, we finally got to a sign, saying car park in 5 k's and the start of the track 2 k's the way we came from. So we went the long track without knowing it. When we had a look at the map later, I saw that the way we wanted to go was a bit in the direction we went and then back to another way, Andy just hasn't seen that on the map (Don't know why xD) well anyway, after that I always checked where we have to go, and always took enough water with me. You always learn more every day don’t you :D
Another day passed with a visit in Claire valley and Barossa valley, and the next day we arrived in Adelaide, but more in the next blog entry :)
See u later !
